Ginger Limeade

Hypoglycemia | Dehydration

Ginger is a tonic that can help relieve tension and stress. A refreshing glass of Ginger Limeade can calm an upset stomach, relax areas of tension in the body, and stabilize your blood sugar when you need a boost. I recommend having this beverage prepped and ready to drink.

Serves 1 to 2

2-inch piece of fresh ginger

5 limes

2½ cups water

⅛ cup maple syrup

⅛ cup chopped fresh mint leaves

1. Peel the ginger and grate to a fine pulp. Squeeze the pulp firmly over a medium bowl to release about 2 teaspoons of juice.

2. Juice the limes into the bowl to release about ½ cup of lime juice.

3. Add the water and stir.

4. Stir in the maple syrup and mint and serve.

Tip: Maple syrup is a good choice for vata. For pitta, substitute coconut sugar, and for kapha, substitute raw honey.

Indigestion

Digestive problems can affect your energy, vitality, and mood. Ayurveda understands the strength of your digestive fire, agni, to directly influence digestive capacity. Gas, bloating, belching, and stomach discomfort are signs of indigestion and an indication of imbalance within the system. To restore balance and vigor, eat seasonally fresh foods only when hungry and no more than three times a day. Avoid snacking and emotional eating.
